The effect of sulfamethoxazole sodium
2023-08-24 15:32:25
Sodium sulfamethoxazole is a type of sulfonamide drug that is common in early veterinary drugs and is a synthetic anti infective drug that plays a crucial role in the treatment of various diseases.
Mechanism of action
Sulfamethoxazole is a sulfonamide antibacterial drug. It can compete with aminobenzoic acid, which is essential for bacterial growth, for dihydrofolate synthase, interfering with folate synthesis, thereby inhibiting the normal growth and reproduction of bacteria and producing antibacterial effects.
The effect of sulfamethoxazole sodium
1、 Treatment of swine toxoplasmosis, a zoonotic disease that affects both humans and animals. After infection, pigs may experience symptoms such as high fever, respiration, fever, and nervous system. The pig herd may exhibit mental depression and decreased appetite. After diagnosis, treatment with compound sulfamethoxazole sodium combined with other fever reducing and anti-inflammatory drugs can be cured within a few days.
2、 Treatment of coccidia and eperythrozoonosis, which can easily infect young piglets, can be achieved by intramuscular injection of a mixture of sulfamethoxazole sodium and doxycycline, resulting in significant therapeutic effects. To prevent piglets from being infected with coccidia, using sulfamethoxazole sodium as a mixture for five days in sows can effectively prevent coccidia.
3、 Sodium sulfamethoxazole is the first drug to treat atrophic rhinitis in pigs. It is used in combination with other drugs for seven days and has a significant effect.
4、 Porcine meningitis. Choosing penicillin drugs in combination with sulfamethoxazole sodium, dexamethasone, and glucose for treatment can improve the cure rate after pigs have meningitis.
Contraindications to the compatibility of sulfamethoxazole sodium
Sodium sulfamethoxazole and cloxacillin are incompatible and cannot be mixed for injection. When combined with aminoglycosides and lincomycin hydrochloride, turbidity and precipitation may occur, which is also a contraindication when paired. Sulfonamide drugs combined with moneomycin and salinomycin can cause poisoning, so caution should be exercised when used.
Sodium sulfamethoxazole can not only be used for pig diseases, but also as an insect repellent in poultry to treat chicken dysentery, avian Escherichia coli, and infectious rhinitis.
