How long does glyphosate remain in the soil? How many days can we plant crops after spraying?
2023-02-10 14:40:17
Glyphosate is an endogenous herbicide with a wide spectrum of herbicides. As long as it is a green plant, it will react when it comes into contact with glyphosate solution. Farmers call it "green killing". After spraying glyphosate, the leaves come into contact with the solution, and through internal absorption and transmission, the roots of the weeds are also injured to achieve the effect of dead roots, which is one of the reasons why farmers like to use glyphosate.

Glyphosate has the characteristics of passivation when it meets the soil. When glyphosate is sprayed on the wasteland, the weed leaves contact the herbicide solution to achieve the effect of dead grass. The remaining herbicide solution is directly sprayed on the soil, and the soil contains a lot of microorganisms, as well as metal ions such as iron and aluminum. After a series of reactions, the molecules contained in glyphosate will lose their activity, thus losing the effect of weeding.

If we do not consider the effect of weeding, but only consider the time. Strictly speaking, after the glyphosate is sown in the morning, we can sow in the afternoon. On the one hand, glyphosate is passivated when it meets the soil, which has limited impact on the subsequent crops. On the other hand, glyphosate is an inhibitive herbicide in the stem and leaves. It can't touch the green stem and leaves, and can't play a weeding role. Most of the newly sown crops are sown in the form of seeds, and will not cause pesticide damage.

In the actual use process, the purpose of spraying glyphosate is to weed. Therefore, we should not only consider the problem of time, but also consider the problem of weeding. Only after the weed control is completed, can we plant crops.

According to the dead grass rate of glyphosate, it can be controlled within 5-7 days under normal conditions, but it should also be determined according to the properties of weeds, weather and temperature and other external conditions. For example, annual weeds such as Portulaca oleracea, Xanthium sibiricum, Matang, Fanzha, etc. After spraying glyphosate, the grass will die in 3-5 days.

However, for perennial weeds such as Vitex negundo, Thistle, Cirsinia, etc., after spraying glyphosate, it may take 5-7 days to die.

There is also a kind of weeds that are difficult to control, such as wild grapes, wild peanuts, reeds, knotweeds, etc. After spraying glyphosate, the effect may not be obvious once, and it needs to be sprayed several times more. There is no specific time for this situation.

For the wasteland, there are many kinds of weeds in the field, including annual, perennial and stubborn weeds. After spraying glyphosate once, wait for 7 days to observe, there will be many stubborn weeds in the field that need to be sprayed many times.

Therefore, considering the actual situation, if you rent wasteland to plant crops, you need to weed ahead of time. It is recommended that you should leave about 15-20 days ahead of time, mainly for spraying glyphosate several times (3-4 times).
