Background and Overview
Chlorphenamide, as a new type of highly efficient and low toxicity insecticide, is widely used in the control of lepidoptera pests. 2-Amino-3-methylbenzoic acid is widely used as an intermediate in the synthesis of chloramphenicol. It is also an important pharmaceutical and chemical intermediate and has been applied in the synthesis of many drugs.
Preparation
The traditional synthesis method of 2-amino-3-methylbenzoic acid is based on 2-nitro-3-methylbenzoic acid as raw material, using iron powder and activated carbon to catalyze the reduction of hydrazine hydrate. This method has a long reaction time, requires the filtration of iron and activated carbon after the reaction, and generates solid waste such as iron mud. This article selects an efficient catalyst, Raney nickel. Through experimental research, this method has simple process, mild conditions, good product purity, a yield of over 92%, and a content of ≥ 96%. The product structure has been confirmed by nuclear magnetic resonance.
